West Side Neighborhood Housing Services
and Savarino Construction
The White Brothers Livery was constructed as a stable serving residents along Richmond Avenue and other West Side neighborhoods. After going through several owners and uses, the building fell into disrepair and was due to be demolished before Sam Savarino and West Side NHS stepped in and offered to buy and preserve the structure.
City of Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown led the charge in providing funding for stabilization, reconstruction and environmental remediation. City HOME funds, RESTORE New York funding, State Historic Tax Credits and funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank were amongst those amassed to complete this $3.5 Million conversion.
The building contains fourteen (14) one and two bedroom apartments and is steps away from Symphony Circle, minutes from a Historic Olmstead Park and D’Youville College.
